Kansas City 'BOTAR' Endures Despite Changing Times & Impending Move

Right now we want to update on an upscale Kansas City tradition that persists despite the best effort of activists and culture warriors of every stripe who can only seem to agree the old world glam can be kinda cringe-y and hard to defend.

Context . . .

Let's not forget that TKC recently myth-busted American Royal efforts to rebuild in Kansas that have heretofore been unrealized. Read . . . FAILED

In fact . . . Our story on the topic was so damn saucy that the American Royal walked, hat in hand, over to the Biz Journal, in order to sell the latest version of their STILL UNREALIZED hype.

Nevertheless . . . Thanks to the BEST & BRIGHTEST denizens of our blog community we inspired to take a quick trip down memory lane in order to provide context.

Here's the backstory for those who don't know . . .

"In 1949, a group of ten men and women founded the BOTARs with the object to foster interest in the American Royal. The chosen "Belles of the American Royal" would participate in many activities, but mainly they would endeavor to stimulate knowledge of what the Royal means to the community and vicinity.

"In 1959, the founders of BOTAR felt that as the young women had contributed ten years toward their initial purpose, the time had come for them to form their own organization. With the approval of the American Royal, the BOTAR Organization was established.

"Today, BOTAR is a women’s leadership organization that supports the unique mission of the American Royal and its role in promoting the agribusiness economy in Kansas City and the region. BOTAR encourages civic involvement and develops leadership skills through intergenerational mentoring and volunteerism."

Yeah right . . .

It's a fancy cowtown cotillion that once served as a benchmark of social standing and success for young ladies in Kansas City.

Now it's just another ritzy party that seems nice, probably serves to keep the last remaining middle-class wives occupied and likely hits many local dudes right in the wallet . . . A quick description of the latest event . . .

"With a gorgeous setting of greens, pinks, golds, and the ambiance of old-world Palm Beach, guests felt transported back in time to a glorious world of palm trees and parties!"
