Once again KCMO keeps pace with record breaking numbers from 2020 -- The deadliest year in local history.
Here's the report from deadly afternoon gunfire . . .
Homicide 4200 block of E 56th St
This afternoon just before 4pm officers were nearby the area of 56th and Swope Parkway when they heard the sound of gunfire to their East.
Officers immediately moved toward that area to investigate, at the same time multiple calls came in to 911 about a shooting at 56th and Jackson.
On arrival at 56th and Jackson officers located an adult male shooting victim unresponsive in a front yard of a residence there.
Officers began rendering aid and summoned EMS to the scene.
EMS transported the victim to the hospital where he was declared deceased a short time later.
Detectives and Crime Scene investigators are canvassing for witnesses and processing the scene for any evidence that may lead detectives to any information about what led up to this shooting as well as any information about where the shots came from or any suspect information.
Anyone who heard or saw anything in this area or has any information, who has not talked to detectives yet is asked to contact Homicide detectives directly at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline anonymously at 816-474-TIPS there is a reward of up to $25,000 for information submitted anonymously to the TIPS hotline.
We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.
We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.

Man dies in shooting Monday afternoon in east Kansas City
A man died in a shooting Monday afternoon in east Kansas City, Missouri, police said. The shooting unfolded just before 4 p.m. in the 4200 block of east 56th Street.
