A 22-year-old Latino dude died of injuries sustained during a shooting earlier this morning.
It's important for our readers to know that once again this report pushes KCMO ahead of the historic pace of killing in 2020 - Kansas City's deadliest year on record.

LATE DEATH: Homicide 4800 block of Independence Ave.
Just after 3:45AM this morning, officers were dispatched to TMC on a reported shooting.
Officers arrived at the hospital and were notified by staff that a male victim had been dropped off in a personal vehicle suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Hospital staff advised the male victim was suffering from critical life threatening injuries.
Assault squad detectives were notified and immediately began gathering evidence to locate a crime scene and determine what led to the shooting. A small crime scene was located at a nearby convenience store in the 4800 block of Independence Ave. It was determined, the victim and suspect knew one another and were involved in an argument before the shooting occurred.
Just after 6:00AM, Assault squad detectives were advised the victim had died in surgery at the hospital.
Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel were notified and immediately responded. Collectively, they worked on gathering any evidence present and collecting witness statements. Detectives are actively working to develop a person of interest responsible for this incident, and do not have anyone in custody at this time. Detectives do not believe there is a present danger to the surrounding public regarding this incident.
This case is being investigated as a homicide and is considered ongoing.
The victim has been identified as ############, H/M, 09/12/2001.
