Kansas City Playlist: Will Homeless Or Developers Win Downtown?!?

With so many grand plans still in the works for downtown . . . We take a step back in order to get a glimpse at future of the loop.

Our big question . . .

IS DOWNTOWN KANSAS CITY HOME TO 'UNHOUSED' MASSES OR ELITE NEW DEVELOPMENTS?!?!

A quick overview of recent news . . .

This week KCMO approved more than a million bucks to fund additional shelters for the "unhoused" as cold weather approaches. Most of these places are in and around loop. An upcoming Northeast "low barrier" facility is just a stone's throw away from the ALLEGEDLY upcoming stadium.

And of course . . . Everyone in Kansas City has become familiar with the slap fighting over the proposed East Village Downtown Baseball Stadium Entertainment District.

On the horizon . . . Federal free money promises 15 BILLION for transit development pipe dreams with absolutely no deets

The South Loop coverup for the highway claims a great many unsecured donations but nobody has noticed they're building a PRIVATE PARK that won't include space for all of the lovable scamps who wander around his park of town.

And I guess we're all politely ignoring the P&L District white elephant that has NEVER PAID off and didn't live up to expectations & promises

And so . . .

As war around the world ramps up and allies wonder if the U.S. is overextended . . . We merely share a question that hits home . . .

WILL DEVELOPERS OR HOMELESS DOMINATE THE FUTURE OF DOWNTOWN KANSAS CITY?!?

In our own silly way we contend that this juxtaposition might be akin to the devastation in the Holy Land inasmuch as it doesn't seem like anybody wants to share this hotly contested real estate. HOWEVER, there's no Iron Dome to protect from all of the poop rockets that hobos fire into open spaces

God only knows how it will all turn out.

In the meantime . . . Tonight's inquiry inspires our www.TonysKansasCity.com playlist on the topic of wealth inequality/disparity and/or "economic injustice" in our cowtown and around the world.

This soulful tune by Charles Bradley speaks to the heart of the issue and has remained a hipster favorite for more than decade.

We couldn't forget an international hit that earned a great deal of local attention as it peaked during the not-so-long-ago Royals World Series run.

No, we're not gonna link "Rich Men North Of Richmond" because we never thought it was a very good song. This bit of satire fits better in our bloggy dump and speaks to American obsession with other people's money . . .

Of course, no playlist about hard times would be complete without this 80s heartbreaker from Phil Collins . . .

Tonight we choose to finish on hopeful note and share a great clip of an underrated 1976 classic from Hall & Oates that probably speaks to fan conceptions concerning the holy trinity of Taylor Swift, Brittany Mahomes & Gracie Hunt . . . With the notable exception that Taylor has her own cash BUT you still have to ask your dad for money to attend her concerts . . .

As always, thanks for reading tonight and have a safe & fun Saturday night . . .
