Kansas City Leaders Confront Pushback For Supporting Israel

Like it or not, amid recent conflict our TKC blog community was the first to note the longstanding alliance betwixt Israel and the Kansas City metro. 

Now . . . As many so-called progressives demand a cease-fire following a devastating terror attack on Israel . . . There's a bit of second-guessing by some people who constantly need to check social media stats in order to justify their convictions.

Credit where it's due to KC PBS newsie Mary Sanchez for a recent report on the latest politically charged rhetoric from the relative safety of our cowtown compared with the Holy Land war zone.

Here's the crux of the debate . . .

"Kansas City area leaders’ sense of solidarity with Israel has been years in the making.  

"It is the product of advocacy that predates the recent outbreak of war, the huge loss of life and the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

"In recent days, some pushback has begun.

"A long list of local elected officials, including Lucas, have been called out during rallies in support of Palestinians in Gaza.

Protesters note area leaders’ vows to stand with Israel while offering little if any empathy for Palestinians — if they get mentioned at all."
