Kansas City Fashion Statement: Clueless Local Hipsters Wearing Palestinian Keffiyeh

We've already seen these things popping up in local coffee shops lately . . . Had to refrain from calling one of my Latina cousins a scumbag for wearing this thing in public because the cops wouldn't have understood. 

For those who may not know . . . 

"The Palestinian keffiyeh is a chequered black and white scarf that is usually worn around the neck or head. This keffiyeh has become a symbol of Palestinian nationalism, dating back to the 1936–1939 Arab revolt in Palestine. Outside of the Middle East and North Africa, the keffiyeh first gained popularity among activists supporting the Palestinians in the conflict with Israel and is an icon of Palestinian solidarity. "

Now . . . Here are TKC's fashion rules . . .

If you're from Palestine and want to sport this . . . Fine . . . We'll step out of your way if only because their is likely an Israeli drone coming your way with a special care package. 

However . . . 

What we've noticed is so many college-aged Midwestern hipster d-bags sporting this gear.

A funnier punchline than anything we could write: Most keffiyah gear that appears in the U.S. is made in China.

The online equivalent of this trend is sharing a superimposed Israel/Palestine local map in order to steer the conversation to a decidedly antisemitic direction.
