Here's How Kansas City Royals Work Around Exec Frank White

This week Jackson County Executive Frank White endured citywide resistance over his release of a "secret memo" claiming that the new stadium might cost as much as 6 BILLION bucks.

To be fair to the Executive . . . Skeptical souls expected cost overruns. But "news" that the downtown stadium might cost TRIPLE recent projections sparked push back from every strata of local leadership.

Not only did Mayor Q challenge the new estimates . . . But Legislator Manny Abarca did a whirlwind local media tour from one show to the next on Friday wherein he called out the Executive in no uncertain terms.

Legislator Abarca started his day at 6:00 in the AM on Fescoe in the Morning and rebuked alleged "misinformation" and challenged the narrative from Exec Frank White

To be clear . . . Our TKC blog community revels in politicos contradicting one another.

However . . .

Right now we want to share an even better perspective from a trusted insider that offers insight that's missing from the conversation so far.

Here's the word . . .

KANSAS CITY ROYALS DON'T SEEM TO REALIZE THE DOWNTOWN STADIUM DOESN'T APPEAR ON THE BALLOT WITHOUT THE APPROVAL OF THE JACKSON COUNTY LEGISLATURE!!! THIS WEEK THE EXEC JUST STRENGTHENED A VOTING BLOC AGAINST HIM!!!

Here's more detail . . .

"Obviously, the Executive is being openly hostile against the Royals and seems to be out to wreck any downtown deal. Sadly, he played his hand too early because the Legislature now has enough votes to move forward without him and overpower any veto. His "secret memo" and his "hardball" tactics have already backfired. If the Royals are smart and know anything about how local government works . . . They're taking the Jackson County Legislature more seriously and working to form a coalition and consensus rather than suffering an administration that clearly wants to thwart any progress."

Meanwhile . . . Clay County is making bold social media proclamations but seems to have run out of steam for their efforts.

Again . . .

Taxpayers will be the last to know the score given that this bit of political gamesmanship is clearly reaching critical mass behind the scenes with local media struggling to keep the story straight when it's clearly . . . ALWAYS . . . Nothing more than a contest over money & power.

$5 billion in tax money for a new Royals stadium? What leaked documents reveal

The document projects huge tax collections, based on several assumptions of how sales tax revenues would grow over 40 years. But where those numbers came from - and whether voters would renew a sales tax for the Royals - is still unknown.
