Kansas City Still A Union Town?!?

Actually . . . Internets discourse isn't a great place to ask about any ideological allegiance given the prevalence of bots and "intelligence agents" of every stripe.

Still . . . We'd like to think that Kansas City still has love for rank & file labors even amid suspicion of political motives.

But let's think about the topic just a bit more deeply for the afternoon . . . A few troubling trends have taken hold . . .

- Old codgers frustrated with humans forgetting their fries seem to long for cheap, accurate & efficient robot fast food workers.  Sadly, the machines don't care about your order either . . . They're just looking for Sarah Connor amongst the plebs.

- In Kansas City . . . Labor is torn betwixt progressive urban alliances and the reality of needing to advance their cause in red state Missouri . . . The result is a great deal of double talk that seems cringe-y and a whole lot of horrible candidates.

- An inconvenient thought . . .

Does Kansas City really support unions given that so many corporations & consumers depend on illegal migrant labor?!?!

TKC Challenge . . . Answer that one without giving to racism given that the Honduran gentlemen who fixed your roof were probably very nice.

- Finally . . . As many TKC readers note . . . At 10-13% voter turnout for municipal elections, it's hard to argue that voters are really "supportive" of any ideology. Until locals show any interest in voting, it'll be hard to convince skeptics of popular support.

Nevertheless . . . We remain hopeful and share a brighter perspective for your post-BBQ malaise . . .

"Kansas City is a union town, but even then, for many the idea of actually being in a union is sadly abstract and removed. Many view unions positively, and with good reason, but have no close experience because the bosses have fought tooth and nail to whittle away the power of the working-class. They know that we are strongest together and they fear what an organized working class could accomplish."
