Kansas City Isn't Trying To Keep Royals?!?

Via text spam, blog editorial, mailer, online advert and even TV commercials . . . Clay County leaders are making an impressive pitch to lure the Kansas City Royals across the river.

Meanwhile . . .

KANSAS CITY LEADERS SEEM DISENGAGED, ENTITLED AND UNWILLING TO COMPETE FOR AN MLB FRANCHISE!!!

We talked about this a bit with Pete Mundo but today we want to put the idea out there front & center:

Like it or not, the advertising campaign launched by Jeff Roe's Axiom is newsworthy and has raised eyebrows across the metro.

Former KCMO Council Lady Heather Hall is out there front and center welcoming the Royals to Clay County.

Clay County Commish Jason Withington is openly mocking the East Village with his social media advocacy & TV interviews.

And so, for those of us who live in KCMO and would like to keep the team . . .  Our www.TonysKansasCity.com blog community on the wrong side of the bridge wonders . . .

WHY ISN'T KANSAS CITY LEADERSHIP ARGUING TO KEEP THE ROYALS IN JACKSON COUNTY?!?!

Executive director for the Jackson County Sports Complex Authority Jim Rowland confirms on the record that we're all "waiting" for a decision from the home team . . . And sitting around in a C-suite cowtown office waiting for a 3-Star lunch doesn't really sound like it takes a lot of work.

Meanwhile . . .

The only action we're seeing to keep the Royals is overwhelmingly negative and might be nothing more than a fake poll ran out of Jersey.

Finally . . .

As far as Executive Frank White is concerned . . . He doesn't even attend legislative meetings anymore so engagement on this BILLION DOLLAR issue might be too much to ask given his longstanding grudge against the team because they wouldn't let him be a manager from the golf course like his current gig.

And so . . . Before it goes down, we want to make it plain . . .

IF THE KANSAS CITY ROYALS SKIP TOWN, WE CAN BLAME LOCAL ELECTED LEADERS FOR DOING ALMOST NOTHING TO TRY AND KEEP THE TEAM!!!

So far the public has been privy to nothing more than insider chatter, sketchy developer assurances and political posturing from KCMO power players.

Accordingly . . .

With weeks until the team promised to announce their decision . . . The only thing we know for certain is that Jackson County & KCMO efforts to keep the franchise have been lackluster at best, completely hidden from the public and almost totally conflicted and unconvincing.

As always, we're hoping for the best in Kansas City but just like the beleaguered home team has learned on their way to 100 loses: It's hard to win a game when your players don't show up and don't seem to be trying very hard.

Developing . . .
