Sadly, our TKC blog community prediction is turning correct . . . This Labor Day weekend in KCMO is proving exceptionally violent and putting us right back on track for record homicides.
This is the 3rd homicide so far this Saturday.
Unofficially, today's spate to deadly shooting raises the KCMO homicide count past 2020 numbers -- The deadliest in local history.

Homicide 300 block of Drury
On 09/02/23 just after 1030am, officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Drury Ave. on a reported Shooting.
Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and unresponsive. EMS responded and transported the victim to an area hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased.
The preliminary investigation is believed the incident stemmed over an argument resulting in a physical altercation in the street.
Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel have responded to the scene for processing and gathering evidence, as well as speaking with any potential witnesses.
Detectives do not currently have any persons of interest in police custody and this investigation is considered on-going.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.
We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
