Kansas City Homicide #128: Gunfire Kills Man At Laundry

Over the weekend, the extreme weather actually curbed local homicides.

Still . . .

As we start the work week our homicide count remains more than 20% higher than last year AND still on pace to surpass 2020 numbers . . . The deadliest year in local history.

Here is the first report . . .

7000 Eastwood Trafficway

Upon arrival, officers located an adult male lying in the parking lot of the laundry mat suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.  Officers administered life saving measures until EMS arrived on scene. EMS declared the victim deceased on scene.

The circumstances leading up to the homicide are unknown.  No one is in custody at this time. We have no reason to believe there is an immediate risk to the public.

Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Personnel have responded to the scene.  They will be processing the scene to recover any evidence and speaking to any potential witnesses.

Anyone with information is asked to call homicide detectives at 816-234-5043. Or if you wish to remain anonymous you can do so by calling the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.

There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information provided to TIPS which leads to an arrest in the case.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.

We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
