Joanne Collins Honored As 1st Black Council Lady After Mayor Q Forgot KC History

Credit goes to The Globe for running this story first . . .

However, we're going to give ourselves a pat on the back because our blog community shoved the egregious error in the Mayor's face.

Our contention . . .

PROGRESSIVE OR CONSERVATIVE . . . IT'S IMPORTANT TO KNOW KANSAS CITY HISTORY AND FACT CHECK MAYOR Q FAKE NEWS ABOUT PROGRESS ACHIEVED LONG AGO!!!

Fun fact . . .

It was a REPUBLICAN mayor who helped advance this progress at the end of the 20th century.

Here's a social media note confirming a nice moment this week . . .

"Yesterday, the formidable community leader Joanne Collins, was recognized by Mayor Pro-Tem Parks-Shaw as the 1st Black Councilwoman (1974) and First Black woman named Mayor Pro Tem in Kansas City."

To be fair . . . Current Mayor Pro Tem Ryana Parks Shaw also deserves accolades here for showing a great deal of humility and respect for Kansas City history by pushing forward this gesture of appreciation.

Developing . . .
