Deadly Kansas City Liquor Store Fight: Hate Crime Or Hearsay?!?

As always, we look forward to so many amateur legal opinions on the Internets.

As close readers know . . . TKC was pre-med so we advise friends to calm down, drink more water, get a lot of sleep and see a real doctor if their symptoms persist.

Meanwhile . . .

LOCAL ACTIVIST LAWYERS RUSH HATE CRIME CONVICTION FOLLOWING NASTY LIQUOR STORE FIGHT!!!

Today a member of the Kansas City editorial board weighs in . . .

"Some would say, even if Sean Tonkin said the most vile things to Jon “Mike” Rone Jr. , that doesn’t give Rone permission to attack him with a club. I am not one of those people. A white person calling a Black man a racial epithet to incite violence shouldn’t excuse the instigator from the consequences of their actions."

Question . . .

Did the Kansas City Star editorial board just give everybody permission to club somebody to death for liquor store trash talk???

We hope not.

Here's a much better argument . . .

"Stand your ground laws apply to Black men?"

"At times I’ve wondered: Does the stand your ground law apply equally to Black Kansas Citians? In states such as Missouri with stand your ground laws, the answer is no. A huge racial disparity exists, according to an Urban Institute study. More than any other race, white Americans were much more likely to benefit from self-defense claims, particularly when they kill Black people, the study concluded."

There's data to back up this conclusion and it raises a legit question.

Tragically, the answer also includes the sordid deets of a Kansas City firefighter gunned down without consequences in front of a QT last year.

More to the point . . . Here's our main question . . .

SHOULD KANSAS CITY PUNDITS ACCEPT LIQUOR STORE HEARSAY WHEN ADVOCATING HATE CRIME CHARGES!!!

We pose this question because nobody else has bothered to address the obvious weakness in this story amid so much public protestation . . . Also, unfortunately, TKC has told people to do some horrible things to their mothers after getting cut off in traffic.

But I digress . . .

As we've seen the fact so far . . .

There's a lot of speculation and hearsay regarding this incident that assigns motive and claims racial persecution . . . Whilst the facts, so far, merely document a tragic liquor store fight to the death amongst two combatants.

The TKC teaching moment here is to avoid nasty talk with strangers when boozing up . . . Which should be obvious but might be lost amid the outcry for social justice & GoFundMe donations.

Black man killed in Kansas City as assailant hurled n-word. That's not a hate crime? | Opinion

Jon Rone Jr. was stabbed to death by a man who wanted to "f*** up a n*****," according to witnesses. And the only thing the alleged assailant is charged with is disturbing the peace. From Toriano Porter:
