Royals Seek Refuge From Homicide Surge In North Kansas City?!?

The impending relocation of the Kansas City Royals to Clay County is moving along faster than we could have imagined.

However . . .

There's a facet of this conversation that has been mostly unmentioned so far as Clay County officials are now openly attempting to lure the home team away in a hurry.

Shame on so many other local "journalists" for ignoring the trend and refusing to ask a very simple question . . .

HAVE HISTORIC KANSAS CITY HOMICIDE NUMBERS CHASED ROYALS BASEBALL ACROSS THE BRIDGE?!?!

Consider . . .

The current "East Village" downtown stadium plan is a joke and seems like something dreamed up sociology majors.

With bad highway access, no parking and nearby high crime neighborhoods . . . This plan isn't serious and shows us that KCMO leaders aren't really engaged in this discussion.

Meanwhile . . .

Clay County has better access to highways, more enthusiasm and growing support from statewide officials . . .

And most important of all . . .

NORTH KANSAS CITY IS SAFER THAN THE KCMO EAST VILLAGE!!! SORRY!!!

The crime stats don't lie.

Also . . .

Like it or not, municipal conversation amongst serious people demands that we acknowledge an inconvenient truism . . . It would be irresponsible to send 50,000 fans mostly comprised of families of into a high-crime area for the sake some kind of fanciful urban revival scheme.

Given rampant auto crime in KC proper, the parking lot alone would represent a clear and present danger. Even worse, now that the streetcar is broken down . . . It's clear that KCMO doesn't necessarily have a public transit advantage.

And so . . .

All of this is evidence and observation is merely to note a fact that has been heretofore unmentioned in our local discourse . . .

KANSAS CITY'S HISTORIC HOMICIDE RATE RISKS CHASING THE ROYALS AWAY!!!

Pundits who disagree with our info & analysis can only argue against causation because it would be a public relations nightmare for anyone affiliated with the Royals to reference the sky high homicide rate or worsening threat of local violent crime.

But let's be practical . . .

Plunking down a baseball stadium in the middle of a city that keeps breaking one homicide record after the next just doesn't make sense.

Tragically . . .

Local residents would like to think that the quotient of local killing doesn't impact the fate of our city or the every day life of KCMO residents . . . But that idea is false.

Again . . . Like it or not . . . The fate of our neighbors on the East side will, in fact, determine the course of Kansas City, Missouri overall. Their future is our future and demographic differences aren't nearly as important as politicos would like to imagine for people who live & work inside city limits.

If/when the Royals leave for NKC . . . Record breaking homicides and the threat of violent crime will be a factor in the decision even if nobody bothers to acknowledge as much.

Accordingly . . . And yet again . . .

Kansas City can either WAKE UP and realize that public safety determines the fate of this cowtown or continue along a deadly & divisive path that only leads to the destruction of one local legacy after the next.

You decide . . .
