KC Rivalry: Congressman Cleaver Will NEVER Quit For Mayor Q

Go ahead and label this one "speculation" but we think time will prove us correct once again . . .

As we slouch toward the 2024 election season there are a great many implications threatening the mostly forgettable world of Kansas City politics.   

However . . . After conferring with insiders and taking a look at the local landscape, we've stumbled upon a truism . . .

CONGRESSMAN CLEAVER WILL STAY IN OFFICE UNTIL HE'S 125 YEARS OLD RATHER THAN GIVE HIS BLESSING TO MAYOR Q!!!

We DON'T have a direct quote on that . . . But . . . Ask anybody who knows they won't argue. 

History also proves us correct . . .

Former Jackson County Exec Mike Sanders wound up the federal pokey before could wait out the Congressman. 

Former Mayor Sly James is now arguing on Twitter rather than stomping around D.C. because the timing didn't work.

And now . . . As the Congressman approaches 80-years-old there are quite a few ambitious politicos walking around with shovel in hand and dreams of a district that's pretty much a demographic lock for Democratic hopefuls. 

Sadly . . . We contend . . .

The current 12th & Oak boss WILL NOT get the Congressman's blessing any time soon despite an EPIC war chest and rising star importance inside the Beltway. 

Local insiders offer a many reasons for this fact of life . . . But, again, they're all speculation. 

- The Mayor is too radical for the Congressman's liking.

- Thankfully, the Congressman is in decent shape and could have another 2 to EVEN 3 terms left and he STILL wouldn't be the oldest guy in the House.  

- Every skilled politico knows that picking your replacement is a dangerous game and increasingly unlikely given the current climate. 

For these reasons and so many more . . .

The softest landing spot for Mayor Q is unavailable as TKC continues to contend . . . He will NOT serve out the remainder of his term and, wisely, looks to avoid playing the bad guy for cowtown plebs until the bitter end.
