Kansas City 2023 Homicide #101: Double Shooting Leaves Man Dead

The 2nd Kansas City, Missouri killing on July 4th pushes the homicide count forward to continue along a record breaking pace.

Homicide 8500 Woodland

On 7/4/2023 just after 10:30 pm, officers were dispatched to 8505 Woodland on a reported shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult male inside the gas station unresponsive and suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Officers performed life saving measures. EMS arrived on scene and declared the victim deceased.

The second victim, a male juvenile teen older than 12 years of age, was shot and transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

There is no one in custody at this time. The circumstances surrounding the homicide are unknown at this time.

Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Personnel have responded to the scene.  They will be processing the scene to recover any evidence and speaking to any potential witnesses.

There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information provided to TIPS which leads to an arrest in the case.
