3 in custody after armed carjacking leads to pursuit, crash

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - An armed carjacking led to a police pursuit, a crash, and three people being taken into custody on Monday afternoon. The pursuit started near E. 39th Street and Troost Avenue. It ultimately concluded near the intersection of Gillham Road and E. Armour Boulevard at 3:44 p.m.


Missouri governor denies clemency for man facing execution on Tuesday

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Missouri Gov. Mike Parson on Monday declined clemency for a man who faces execution Tuesday evening for killing two jailers in an ill-fated effort to free someone else from a county jail. Michael Tisius, 42, would be the third person in Missouri, and the 12th person nationally, to be executed in 2023.


Amber Alert canceled: 4 Topeka children safe, mother in custody

TOPEKA, Kan. (KWCH) - Update: Topeka police said four children who had been taken by their mother have been located and are safe. An Amber Alert had been issued for the siblings. Police said they were believed to be in imminent danger. Police said the children's mother, Dontresha Shabree Thomas, has been taken into custody.

Detectives with the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department Special Investigations Unit are asking the public for their assistance in an ongoing investigation.Police are looking for people who had contact with sexual battery suspect 32-year-old Marvin Ray Floyd Jr.KCKPD says that contact could have occurred either online or in person.


Daughter of KC hit-and-run victim relieved to see charges after 10 months

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Ten months after a Kansas City mother was killed in a hit-and-run crash downtown, police have arrested a man facing charges in her death . "My dad is already gone, I'm the only child and all I had was my momma," said Kennadi Cobbins, the daughter of Kameron Cobbins, who was killed in the hit-and-run.


Man charged with 2nd-degree murder after shooting in Platte County

NORTHMOOR, Mo. (KCTV) - Platte County Prosecutor's Office filed charges against Phillip J. Frazier, 50, on Saturday, in the death of Cody J. Steffen, in Northmoor, Missouri. On Friday, June 2, Platte County deputies along with officers of the Riverside Police Department responded to a shooting near a business in the area.


Crash led to deadly confrontation in small Platte County town

NORTHMOOR, Mo. - A fender bender, in broad daylight, turns deadly in Platte County, Missouri. But it wasn't the crash, it was what happened immediately after that. The man who authorities said shot and killed a man in the other car is charged and behind bars.

Man killed in Olathe police shooting identified

OLATHE, Kan. - Police identified a man killed by Olathe police officers Saturday evening. According to police, 58-year-old David Russell Sweet approached officers at a traffic stop at East Santa Fe and North Water streets around 5:40 p.m. Police said Sweet had a knife.
