California man pleads guilty to smuggling over 33,000 fentanyl pills in metro area
A California man pleaded guilty in court Wednesday, admitting to smuggling over 33,000 counterfeit pills that contained four kilograms of fentanyl. Matthew J. Gomez, 28, pleaded guilty to possessing fentanyl with the intent to distribute. On March 16, 2023, Gomez was observed by members of the Missouri Western Interdiction Task Force at a bus stop in Kansas City.
