Tonight's election glory didn't have any impact on the quotient of violence on local streets as our homicide count continues at a record breaking pace.
By our estimate using the KCPD blue sheet as a reference . . .
This is the 88th homicide so far this year compared to 71 at this date last year. A 14% spike year to date.
Even worse . . . The current count puts us ahead of the 2020 pace which numbered only 84 at this date in what was the deadliest year in Kansas City history.
Here is tonight's report . . .
Homicide 18th and Indiana
This evening just after 8 o’clock officers were dispatched to 18th and Indiana on an outside disturbance, party armed.
On arrival officers located indications of a crime scene at that location. Further officers were notified that two shooting victims arrived at a hospital. One of the victims, an adult male, had what is believed to be non-life threatening injuries. The other victim, an adult female had life threatening injuries.
Detectives and crime scene investigators responded to the scene on Indiana to process for evidence. A short time later detectives were notified that the adult female victim died from her injuries.
There is no suspect information or any indication of the circumstances that led up to the shooting at this time.
Detectives need the public’s help with any information about of what took place to help them direct their investigation.

We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
