Let's get this straight before it becomes a more convincing falsehood . . .
PRIVATE FINANCING PROMISES FOR PRICEY PUBLIC PROJECTS IS CLASSIC KANSAS CITY TRICKERY THAT ONLY WORKS ON LOW INFO VOTERS!!!
Big companies, non-profits and all manner of hucksters typically pledge big bucks to voters in return for support . . . But then . . . THE MONEY NEVER MATERIALIZES.
History backs us up on this . . .
Remember that the KC Pet Project promised to raise more than 7 MILLION BUCKS for Kansas City's new shelter if only voters would approve GO Bonds???
However . . . The pledge was never put in writing.
And so . . . The promise remains unfulfilled . . . And, instead, the middle-class white ladies fired a few old school Black dude dog catchers because they didn't match the group's aesthetic.
Not sure if the puppers cared either way.
And all of that is merely prologue to the same trick used by suits and so many useful idiot amateur urban planners at their disposal . . .
The City Council last week authorized applying to the Missouri Development Finance Board for $15 million in state tax credits to support the 4.6-acre park, which will cap Interstate 670 between Wyandotte Street and Grand Boulevard. Officials said the credits would spur at least $30 million, and perhaps as much as $50 million, in private donations, including from business community members.
If the South Loop Link project lands the credits and hits the higher donation amount, it would reach $112.2 million in financing. The park's known funds sit at $47.2 million, factoring in a $28.6 million federal earmark and $18.6 million in private pledges, chiefly from H&R Block Inc. and Loews Hotels & Co.

Missouri officials in the near future could review an application by Kansas City for $15 million in state tax credits, which local officials expect will generate $30 million to $50 million in contingent private pledges for the $200 million park capping Interstate 670 in Downtown.
