Police in rural Missouri ID burned remains as Kansas City man missing since 1991

LEBANON, Mo. - The Lebanon, Missouri Police Department has identified a body found inside a burned car last month as a Kansas City man who has been missing since 1991. According to a press release from the LPD, DNA analysis revealed the deceased person is 71-year-old Stephen E. Winn.


16 arrested by Lenexa police in operation targeting shoplifting

Over a dozen people have been arrested in connection to organized retail thefts in Lenexa, Kan. Lenexa police say 16 people have been arrested following a special operation they conducted from March 28 to April 1, targeting the area of W. 95th Street and Quivira.


Platte County Grand Jury documents 'outdated' jail conditions

PLATTE CITY, Mo. - A Platte County Grand Jury documented the aging conditions in the Platte County Jail, saying, "the facilities are beginning to show age, and the inmate population consistently exceeds the maximum capacity of the jail," according to a letter.


Kansas City man previously on FBI Most Wanted list convicted of illegally possessing firearm

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A Kansas City, Missouri, man with prior felony convictions has been found guilty of one felony count of illegally possessing a firearm. Cory T. Brown was found guilty on March 30 of illegally possessing a Glock 10 mm semi-automatic pistol.


Overland Park police looking for dog that bit person Sunday night

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (KCTV) - The Overland Park Police Department is asking for the public's assistance in locating a dog involved in a biting incident that occurred Sunday night. Police said an individual was bitten by a dog near the intersection of 71st Street and Glenwood.


KC police say young girl grazed by bullet in shooting near a Dollar General store

A young girl is expected to be okay after a Monday evening shooting near 49th Street and Noland Road in Kansas City. The Kansas City, Missouri Police Department believes an unidentified girl between six and ten years old was grazed by a bullet.Officers were dispatched to the 4800 block of Noland Road on a shooting call around 6:30 p.m.


Prosecutors drop charges against Olathe Uber driver

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Johnson County District Attorney's Office earlier this year dropped sexual assault charges against an Olathe Uber driver. In February 2023, prosecutors dropped charges against Mechamed Gayusi. Gayusi had faced charges in connection to a February 2022 incident in Olathe. Prosecutors requested the charges be dismissed in a court filing.
