Wind totals: Portions of the Kansas City metro area saw peak winds exceed 60 mph
Portions of the KMBC viewing area had over 70 mile peak winds on Friday. The National Weather Service tweeted out a list of gustiest winds across the Kansas City metro area and areas surrounding it. St. Joseph, Mo., saw the strongest winds at 74 miles per hour.
Tornado watch canceled, high wind warning continues for Kansas City area
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National Weather Service has canceled a tornado watch for several counties in the Kansas City area, but a wind warning remains. The agency has canceled the watch for Adair, Chariton, Cooper, Howard, Linn, Macon, Pettis, Putnam, Randolph, Saline, Schuyler and Sullivan counties in Missouri.
