Kansas City Deadly Double Shooting Spikes 2023 Homicide Count Back To Historic Pace

After a deadly double shooting late Wednesday night  . . . The Kansas City homicide count returns to a tragic pace. 

Last year at this date there were only 17 murders, the year before that the number was only 14.

The latest KCMO killing sets homicide stats back to the 2020 pace . . . The deadliest year in local history. 

Tragically, today's commitment to fund local anti-crime groups to the tune of more than 30 million bucks didn't matter to recent gun violence victims. 

Here is the first report . . .

Shooting: 5200 Block of 28th Ter.

Tonight just after 9:30 pm, officers were dispatched to the 5200 block of 28th Terr on a reported sound of gun shots.

Upon arrival officers located two victims inside a vehicle. An adult female and adult male. Officers began life saving measures on the adult female. EMS arrived on scene and declared both parties deceased at the scene.

Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Personnel have responded to the scene.  They will be processing the scene to recover any evidence and speaking to any potential witnesses.

Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at 816-234-5043. Or if you wish to remain anonymous you can do so by calling the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.  There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information provided to TIPS which leads to an arrest in the case.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Police in Kansas City, Missouri, are investigating a deadly double shooting that happened Wednesday night. According to police, the shooting happened in the 5200 Block of 28 th Terrace just after 9:30 p.m. Police say they found two victims inside a vehicle, one man and one woman.
