(We noted this on Friday and now, natch, it proves completely accurate after a vote this morning . . . )
Per ushe . . . We'll do the reporting that mainstream local media ignores.
This week there as important Kansas City political power move that was completely neglected in local news and as all the clueless clowns on social media mostly just fight about whatever Anderson Cooper & Tucker Carlson have conspired to debate in different directions.
The basics . . .
Newly elected Jackson County Legislator DaRon McGee earned the top spot on the Legislature.
We have more context . . .
I guess there's not enough money in tote bags to fund that kind of journalism.
Meanwhile . . .
Our blog community here at TKC dared to push back at so-called #MeToo hysteria and we blogged his side of the story . . .
But that's only the start of the story . . .
During the pandemic Mr. McGee was hard at work hatching a political comeback and he proved to be one of the most important architects of the current Freedom, Inc. Jackson County Courthouse takeover.
He provided counsel and a great deal of support to his colleagues . . . Mr. MCGee is charismatic, a notoriously hard worker and probably one of the most intelligent people working Kansas City politics right now.
It was a surprise to many that he has orchestrated a political comeback in a shockingly short amount of time.
Local voters deserve to know about the power move and so we talked about this post by way of back channels and got the okay.
We're closing off comments here because this news is CLEARLY for insiders only given that local journalists just aren't going to cover real local politics any longer.
Still . . .
We're posting not only because we're impressed but also because this comeback story deserves mention as a sign that local community leaders are often victim of media trends but can overpower mainstream hysteria by way of fortitude . . . We think we'll see more of this trend in the very near future.
On the South Side Mr. McGee has earned a great deal of RESPECT from neighbors on both sides of the aisle and we think his ascendancy to a rather high ranking local office is worth reporting.
Developing . . .
