Showdown: Jackson County Exec Fights Pension Benefit For Sheriff's Deputies

Today, in a very real way, Jackson County Executive Frank White will be working against the best interests of local law enforcement.

At a time when workers across the globe advocate for higher wages and more rights . . .

JACKSON COUNTY EXEC FRANK WHITE REBUKES EFFORTS TO INCREASE BENEFITS FOR SHERIFF'S DEPUTIES!!!

Per ushe . . . The newspaper wrote up this conflict in the most biased way possible.

Here's how they view the sitch . . .

The Jackson County Legislature recently took the unusual and controversial step of singling out sheriff’s deputies for special treatment in the county pension plan.

That change was done over the objections of every other top official in county government, and was passed the same day it was introduced without a chance for the pension board to evaluate its financial implications.

Of the six-member majority that approved the change, five are retiring from the legislature at the first of the year. Because of those circumstances, that meeting wasn’t the last of the year after all. County Executive Frank White announced Friday that he would veto the pension change. Now, at a special meeting scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, members will learn if there are the votes to overturn that veto.

Thanks to trusted insiders . . .

There are, in fact, enough votes to override the veto from Jackson County Exec Frank White.

But the fun doesn't stop there . . .

BEHIND THE SCENES FRANK WHITE THREATENS LEGAL ACTION TO BLOCK PENSION BENEFITS FOR SHERIFF'S DEPUTIES!!!

It's a move that's downright hostile and strange considering these factors . . .

- Law enforcement has struggled to find workers . . . Increasing benefits is part of an ongoing attempt to lure qualified applicants.

- The Sheriff's deputies deserve more benefits. The pensions are just one small way for the public to support law enforcement careers and people willing to put their life on the line to protect local streets.

- The county remains flush with cash and Exec Frank hasn't shown any concern for cutting costs in any other department beyond this law enforcement power play.

An insider says this . . .

"I haven't noticed the Executive talking about salary benefits in any other department . . . Sorry to be so blunt but (Exec) Frank White and his family have profited nicely from local government . . .

Extending retirement protections to law enforcement shouldn't be a controversial issue. In fact, it's long overdue. This is a bad look for the Executive and it shows that activist ideology and hostility to law enforcement workers continues to lurk inside local government."

Again . . .

We expect that the veto will be overruled as the crackdown on deputies has earned widespread rebuke from supporters of Sheriff's deputies.
