Why???
Because Southwest was a major driver of the new KCI effort and took the lead in the design process. Obviously their skill at handling tough crowds is in question and the smallish new airport seems apt for crowds it can't handle.
In the meantime, locals are STILL looking for refunds and way to escape Kansas City . . .
Southwest says all customers with trips planned between Dec. 24 and Jan. 2 can request a refund for their unused ticket to their original form of payment.
If a traveler experienced a flight cancellation or significant delay between Dec. 24, and Jan. 2, 2023, Southwest says they will honor "reasonable requests for reimbursement for meals, hotel and alternate transportation."
Passengers can send receipts through the airline's website.
