The upcoming "downtown stadium" isn't going to be downtown.
Also . . .
The East Crossroads is already too crowded to host a stadium and 50K cars.
For better and worse . . .
The South Westside Industrial District is really the only place near downtown that has the kind of room that the a stadium requires.
Moreover . . .
A major thoroughfare like Southwest Blvd along with highway AND RAIL access makes the location even more attractive.

DEVELOPERS HOPE TO REVIVE THE EFFORT TO SAVE IMPERIAL BREWERY IN ORDER TO COMPLIMENT THE ROYALS WESTSIDE STADIUM!!!
This is a last ditch effort to save the oldest brewhaus in Kansas City that seems doomed to the wrecking ball . . . But facilities for the Royals in a stadium complex might save the historic building after all.

Of course there's a lot of speculation on this topic but that's fair given the dearth of reliable public info offered by 12th & Oak officials and/or the team.
In the meantime . . .
More locals realize that the idea of putting the team inside the loop is quickly becoming impractical.
