The driver of a stolen pickup truck was taken into custody Wednesday evening in Kansas City after fleeing police and driving around the metro for about two hours.KMBC News Chopper 9 spotted the vehicle fleeing police just before 5 p.m. in the Midtown area.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A mom said her son died during his first night in the Jackson County Detention Center following a misdemeanor arrest. Nikisha Jackson said she's searching for answers and won't stop until she gets them. "We were like, oh my God we're so glad that Nick is in jail because he's clean," Jackson said.
KCK police ID teen killed at party on Halloween night
Charges could come as soon as Thursday in the Halloween shooting in Kansas City, Kansas, which killed a 17-year-old boy and injured six other teens.That word comes from Wyandotte County Attorney's spokesman Jonathan Carter.According to Kansas City, Kansas, police spokeswoman Nancy Chartrand, detectives have a person of interest in custody.The boy who was fatally shot was a student at Turner High School.

WYANDOTTE COUNTY, Kan. (KCTV) - A jury acquitted a rural Kansas undersheriff who shot and killed an unarmed man in 2017 with a homemade beanbag round. After a weeklong trial, jurors returned a not-guilty verdict Wednesday afternoon. Virgil "Dusty" Brewer was charged with involuntary manslaughter following an October 2017 shooting in Sun City, KS that killed Steven Myers.
Leavenworth woman convicted in fatal stabbing of fiancé
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A Leavenworth, Kansas, woman was convicted on Tuesday in the fatal stabbing of her fiancé in June 2021. Eva Olisha Banks, 41, was convicted of one count voluntary manslaughter, for knowingly killing Jerrold Jermaine Rhodes based on an "unreasonable but honest" belief that deadly force was justified to use in defense, and two counts of aggravated battery.

Police chase ends with crash near Mission home, two people injured
MISSION, Kan. (KCTV) - A police chase with Westwood, Kansas, police led to a crash in Mission Tuesday night. Police had multiple blocks near 61st Street and Roe Avenue shut down for almost an hour. The Westwood Police Department stated a disturbance outside of the Walmart at 47th Street and Mission Road led to someone showing a gun to another person.
'ThrYve' program works to prevent violence among youth in KCK through community engagement
KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Violent crime is impacting youth on both sides of the state line, more recently in Kansas City, Kansas. On Monday, a peaceful and parent-supervised Halloween party turned violent when multiple guests were asked to leave. The suspects complied, left the property and then opened gun fire, killing 17-year-old Katron Harris and injuring six others.
Church Donates Dolls For Children In Crisis
Officers at Central Patrol and East Patrol now have handmade dolls that they can give to children in crisis when responding to calls. The dolls come with messages of love, donated to KCPD St. Augustine's Episcopal Church on Benton Blvd. Church members held a doll-making workshop and distributed more than six dozen dolls to KCPD.
