The average Kansas City denizen will give you the shirt off their back if they feel there there is a genuine need.
However, cowtown corporate moguls are another story altogether and they're about as charitable as a "gentleman of leisure" a week out until the first of the month.
And this topic makes us think of the wonderfully cringe-y "Brotherhood of man" song in one of my favorite musicals.

Kansas City long has been known for its philanthropic corporate community. Indeed, a recent Kansas City Business Journal survey of 212 respondents from local companies found that 96 percent give to charitable organizations.
Yet companies have a variety of strategies for giving, both in terms of internal philosophies and the ways in which they give.
In a panel discussion analyzing the survey results, leaders from local nonprofits and businesses discussed how and why local businesses give, emerging trends in giving, and the best ways nonprofits can thank donors and seek further engagement.
