Progressives Attack Legislators Tarwater & Galvin Over Abortion Vote

For once . . . There just might be political consequences for courthouse inaction.

The basics . . .

KANSAS CITY PROGRESSIVE LEADERS CALL OUT AMBITIOUS LEGISLATORS DAN TARWATER & THERESA GALVIN AFTER AN ABORTION REFERENDUM WAS SHUT DOWN!!!

We posted this note yesterday but here's a better report on the sitch . . .

"An ordinance introduced on Aug. 22, that would have asked residents in the county on Nov. 8 where they stand on Missouri's ban on abortion, failed in the Jackson County Legislature during Monday's meeting. The ordinance would not have changed the legality of abortions in Missouri or Jackson County.

The ordinance failed despite the 4-1 vote with two legislators, Dan Tarwater III and Chair Theresa Cass-Galvin, opting to abstain and two others absent. Six votes yes were required to pass the ordinance."

And now we share perspective from a progressive insider watching the situation and taking notes for an upcoming KCMO campaign . . .

So two of our county legislators who are completely checked out just didn't come to work, and two who have an upcoming election abstain from a vote like this? There is zero f*cking reason for an abstention on a vote like this. I hope the sixth district city council voters see that Dan Tarwater abstained from a woman's right to bodily autonomy. And I hope JaxCo votes see Galvin's behavior!! 😤🙄
