KCPD says suspicious death at Kessler Park now being investigated as a homicide
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Kansas City, Missouri Police Department is now investigating a suspicious death from Monday night at Kessler Park as a homicide. Officers responded to the park around 7:15 p.m. in the 200 block of Wabash Avenue on a medical call.

ROELAND PARK, Kan. - The Johnson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting in Roeland Park that sent one person to the hospital. The shooting happened Monday night at West 47th and Delmar streets, near the Johnson-Wyandotte county line. Roeland Park police said it appears the suspect and victim knew each other, but officials are still investigating.

Blue Springs man sentenced for smuggling drugs into Jackson County jail
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A 39-year-old Blue Springs, Missouri man has been sentenced for smuggling drugs into the Jackson County Detention Center. Christopher Harris pleaded guilty to second-degree trafficking in drugs. A Jackson County judge sentenced Harris to 12 years in prison on Friday.
Escape from Lansing Correctional Facility prompts lockout at Lansing schools
Schools in Lansing, Kansas were placed on lockout Tuesday after an inmate escaped from the Lansing Correctional Facility.The Lansing Police Department confirmed the escape of Michael S. Stroede, 43. A flyer from the Kansas Department of Corrections said Stroede, a minimum-custody inmate, was placed on escape status after it was reported that he had walked away at 11:05 a.m.
KC-area man arrested after long standoff, suspected of utility pole vandalism
JOHNSON COUNTY, Mo. - Johnson County sheriff's deputies got involved after utility workers called saying they heard gunshots while making repairs. Investigators say they have a person of interest in the case, which is focused on the 500 block of NW 1001 Road in Centerview, Missouri.

PAL Center Provides Hundreds With School Supplies
In addition to receiving notebooks, calculators, and traditional supplies, students ranging from elementary school to high school received haircuts, physicals, and pizza. A BookMobile also provided books. This was the 9th year that PAL handed out school supplies.
KCPD's Tyler Moss, officers who saved his life to be honored Tuesday
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - An emotional awards ceremony is in store Tuesday night at the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department's Regional Police Academy. Officer Tyler Moss, who was shot in the line of duty and barely survived, will receive the Distinguished Service Medal and Purple Heart, KCPD announced late Tuesday morning.
