Meth Town Deadly Police Shooting Sparks Questions & Outcry

A local killing is raising questions from family, friends and attorneys.

Here are the basics of the case that's still under investigation . . .

Troopers say officers responded to a disturbance call at a home Friday night when a white sedan sped away from the area. That car crashed into another vehicle at U.S. Highway 24 and Noland Road.

As officers got close to the car, Troopers say they saw a rifle. According to a highway patrol spokesman, two officers, both men, then shot the driver.

The Highway Patrol is leading the investigation. State troopers say it's unclear right now if Pryor pointed the gun at officers.

MSHP confirms two Independence officers fired weapons in deadly shooting on Friday

The Missouri Highway Patrol confirmed that two Independence police officers fired their weapons near the intersection of U.S. Highway 24 and Noland Road on Friday Night in a deadly shooting. Tyrea Pryor, 39, of Kansas City, Missouri, died after the shooting.


Family says man was wrongfully killed by Independence police after chase

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - The Missouri State Highway Patrol continues to investigate a deadly police shooting in Independence. Police said it all started with a disturbance call that quickly turned into a high speed chase. That chase ended after the victim, now identified as 39-year-old Tyrea M. Pryor, crashed his car into another vehicle.
