Special thanks to KICK-ASS TKC READERS for this quick look at behind the scenes controversy in an upcoming local election . . .
This note was put on blast via social media . . . We edited it a bit for brevity but it offers a glimpse at some of the issues that south side voters are facing . . .
Center School District School Board Elections
"My red flag is when the majority of a
School Board is made up of any group of people. In most cases, you have
to let it play out before making any judgments. I rushed to judgment
last year when the possibility was out there for Center to have five
former teachers on the Board. Fortunately only four were serving after
election, still a majority . . .
"You simply don’t condone a Board Member to live out of
the Country for more than a year and allow her to keep serving just
because of a loophole in a law that allows zoom meetings to carry on for
a perpetual amount of time. A resident taxpayer doesn’t mean visiting
the district once or twice a year (sold her home over a year ago) and buying a snickers candy bar at QT.
"Also as a Board President, you should know there is a law
already on the books that you can’t serve as an employee for the
district while you serve as a school board member. You can volunteer,
but not get paid. Board Policy BBFA addresses this. Your code of conduct
policy addresses this. I don’t care if you’re a substitute teacher and
you are getting paid by Kelly Temporary Services. The District hired
Kelly. The Board votes on the money being distributed at nearly every
Board Meeting. There are thirteen other school districts in Kansas City
alone and three immediately to the West of our State Line, if you want
to substitute.
"It’s even worse when the former teachers are working DIRECTLY with teachers behind the scenes to get their agenda addressed.
"The Board President at minimum should ask first
respective Board Member to resign. In regards to second example. He
should make public that he doesn’t support this action and request that
Board Member substitute in another district, volunteer for our district,
don’t vote for expenditures regarding substitutes, and ultimately
report infractions to the Missouri Ethics Commission.
"I have zero against teachers PERIOD, but I have big time
issues when people demonstrate a lack of Integrity and Ethics, AND with
people who circumvent processes in place for their own personal gain."
