KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The owner of a Kansas City, Missouri, gun store pleaded guilty in federal court Wednesday to selling components to convert firearms into machine guns, which he marketed on his website as "cell phone holders." Charles Lee Weston, 37 waived his right to a grand jury and pleaded guilty before a U.S.


KCPD conducting death investigation after woman's body is found outside

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -- The Kansas City Police Department is conducting a death investigation, but homicide detectives have not been called to the scene. Around 9 a.m. today, a woman's body was found outside a home near E. 35th Street and Indiana Avenue. No further information is available at this time.


Court records: Police investigating fourth medical marijuana dispensary burglary

JACKSON COUNTY, MO (KCTV) - A search warrant filed in the investigation into several medical marijuana dispensary burglaries shows Raytown police almost caught thieves in the act during a break-in at a medical marijuana dispensary. Raytown police were called to a burglary in progress on Jan. 22 near 350 Highway and Gregory Boulevard.


Kansas City Uber driver charged with sexual battery

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - An Uber driver is charged with sexually assaulting a Kansas City-area woman. Overland Park police said the victim reported taking an Uber home Sunday evening because she'd been drinking. She reported she was in the back seat and woke up with the driver on top of her.


Man sentenced to 17 years in prison for fatally shooting mother of his children

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -- A Kansas City man has been sentenced to 17 years in prison for fatally shooting the mother of his children last summer. Christopher L. Spears, 34, was convicted of voluntary manslaughter and armed criminal action. He was sentenced to 14 and three years in prison, respectively.


Wanted: Dominick Foley

According to the KC Crime Stoppers TIPS Hotline, 36-year-old Dominick Foley is wanted and a warrant has been issued. They say he "is wanted on a Clay County, Missouri Failure to Appear in Court Warrant for Sex Offender Registration Violation in connection with Possessing Child Pornography."


Missouri security business owner admits to not paying millions in taxes

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A Sunrise Reach, Missouri, man who owns an off-duty security company admitted to not paying millions of dollars in taxes to the Internal Revenue Services. Rex Tarwater, 66, pleaded guilty in federal court on Wednesday on one count of failing to pay over employment taxes and one count of failing to file personal income taxes.


Homeless Kansas man fatally beaten with pipe

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - One homeless man is dead, and two others were arrested following a beating that took place on Tuesday evening. Police responded to the bridge near Seneca and McLean by the Indian Center around 6:45 p.m. They found 30-year-old Blake Barnes of Wichita. He had been beaten.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City continues to deal with violent crime and one nonprofit is working to help fathers who have children injured or killed as a result of the violence. On Monday, the death of 16-year-old Way La Baw marked the latest incident where a teen or child was caught in the crossfire of violence.
