THE PITCH SELLS OUT KANSAS CITY READERS AGAIN!!!!

Sadly, the hipster couple who bought The Pitch in 2018 must've realized that losing money via print media wasn't as fun as it seemed. And so, like so many amongst the NEXTGEN . . . They quit.

More to the point . . .

THE PITCH SELLS OUT YET AGAIN AND LOOKS TO BE ON THE BRINK OF COLLAPSE!!!

A bit of nostalgia . . .

At one point The Pitch was a weekly printed publication that reveled in the ALTERNATIVE news of Kansas City and produced sleazy content that captivated readers from across the metro.

Now . . .

Their latest incantation seems to be more of a content mill that also runs talking points crafted by the DNC for distribution across the Midwest.

So, who owns The Pitch now?!?! Here's the word for Saturday and yet another series of explanations amid a switcheroo . . .

It’s a group of folks who thought that KC would be a lesser place without the voice and presence of The Pitch. That initial board includes supporters from the area: Mat Moody, Steve Chase, Tom Wilbur.

And me, Brock. Alongside my wife, political journalist Vivian Kane.

Yes, we’re as surprised by this turn of events as you are.

The hype for the ownership change is nothing more than a bit of mutual masturbation that hopes to convince local scribes.

Real talk . . .

This is how publications die.

The Pitch is undoubtedly worth a lot less then when it was purchased.

Now that value continues to plunge.

The socials for the mag aren't what they used to be and the new owners don't seem very "connected" to many influential Kansas City power players . . . Don't worry, we're sure that there will be more than a few politicos looking to exploit naive publishers.

There's a very real risk that they're just throwing good money after bad.

In the final analysis . . .

Things change and we notice that The Pitch no longer generates the buzz or interest amongst Kansas City hipsters who have now congregated to an array of walled gardens via social media.
