Kansas City Journalism Skill: Begging!!!

A warning for any college students or youngsters reading this blog who might be contemplating a career in journalism . . . 

BEGGING FOR CASH IS NOW A REQUIREMENT FOR PURVEYORS OF THE WRITTEN WORD IN KANSAS CITY!!!

Today's example and a great many college educated white people with their hand out . . .

The KC Media Collective’s mission is: “The KC Media Collective is a group of nonprofit and community-centered partners collaborating to make local news easily available, its coverage equitable and its operations sustainable. We will do this by deepening our understanding of the people who make up our region, reducing barriers to access and earning trust.”

Again, there's no shame in people asking for help if they need it. 

However, we're not sure if there is much VALUE in this kind of content that isn't much fun to read and rarely influences the civic conversation outside of a small clique of like-minded progressive, middle-class elitists.

To be fair . . . It's nobody's business what you do with your money.

Alternatively . . .

Asking a broke-ass community to fund middle-class lifestyles for progressive pundits is rather brazen.

Local Nonprofits Collaborate to Support, Enhance Kansas City Journalism

Six local nonprofit organizations have formed the KC Media Collective, a new collaborative initiative designed to support and enhance local journalism. Members of the KC Media Collective include American Public Square, Kansas City PBS/Flatland, KCUR, Missouri Business Alert, Startland News and The Kansas City Beacon.
