Kansas City Crime Scene: Homicide Count Declines At Outset Of January 2021

Not sure to give credit to the weather or the worsening economy. It's entirely possible that broke-ass cowtown criminals simply can't afford the price of bullets.

Still, there's no denying the latest numbers.

This morning KCPD updated their daily homicide tracker to reveal 8 killings so far this year compared with 14 at this time last year.

It doesn't seem like it but the 42.86% decline is a very real sign of progress.

Of course skeptics might tell us that this is merely an anomaly given that there hasn't been any significant anti-crime plan shared with the public.

Nevertheless, fewer people killed on local streets is a good thing.

That doesn't mean that KC's historic violence problem is solved which should be obvious from this quick collection of metro crime links featuring allegations, police action and a vast array of property crime.
