Whilst the nation endures an ongoing cultural shift, we want to send a shout out to a KICK-ASS TKC READER for keeping us informed on the continued local death of retail.
To wit . . .
This report was lost in the mix but deserves consideration . . .
CNBC: Macy’s is closing dozens of stores this year. Here’s the full list
Accordingly, an AWESOME TKC READER shares this word . . .
"Independence Center is on the list. Their goal is a June shutdown. This leaves the IC with just One anchor store in Dillard's. Sears is of course is a faded memory (Closed In Oct. '19). Another sad chapter in retail."
And so, there's a myriad of problems confronting this mall that holds horrific corporate debt worth about 50 million bucks.
When we note the mall is "dead on its feet" there are a variety of factors that contribute this judgement as curfews & more police are unlikely to improve the economic decline of this beloved location now, clearly, enduring its last days.
Developing . . .
It's not that Amazon is easier. It's just the only option other than Walmart.
ReplyDeleteYes, and it's easier.
DeleteDillard's is still open.
ReplyDeleteThat didn't help Ward Parkway. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteGee whiz I wonder why Macy's is leaving Independence Center? Could it be black people, who run everything off? The entire mall is going out.
@ 9:13 Dillard's is leaving to when the lease is up....Sorry I had to help ya out.
ReplyDelete^^^ True dat.
ReplyDeleteAlso. OUCH!
KC Snow plan = The Sun.
ReplyDeleteduring pandemic when it's cold, no where really for people to go.
ReplyDeleteso malls have this.
so why not charge for it.
no reason to let people in the doors for free. charge five bucks for a two hour license to be in the mall. if you buy something there is five dollars refunded and you can stay another two hours after the last purchase. some kind of system like this is the only thing to save malls
no reason they should let me into their indoor space for free, walk around, climate controlled, tile floors, teenage hoodlums would disappear immediately if they had to pay to be there.
thanks,
radish
Charge to go to a mall?
ReplyDeleteNo thanks. Bad idea from someone who has never owned a business.
Turn it into a strip club and then charge!
ReplyDeleteStripper pole to the ceiling.
Delete^^^
ReplyDeleteFinally, a great idea.
Monkeys buying $300 Air jordans will not keep the Mall floating. Macys or not.
ReplyDeletewhy not 9:51? pay to park, pay to do a lot of things. why not pay to enter the mall. if you buy something you get it back. many would gladly do that to avoid the teenage hangouts. and if someone is entering the mall with the intention of spending no money, then asking them to pay to enter the mall isn't ridiculous.
ReplyDeletewhat else could save these enormous capital investments in physical mall spaces?
Congratulations mall monkeys! You ruined another one. Move on to Wal-Mart.
ReplyDeleteMeth is a hell of a drug.
ReplyDeleteI blame the white grannies who didn't spend all their money at Sears.
Do your part!
Yeah for LGBT Rights !! Let the Rainbow blanket all sorrows. For a better Tomorrow.

ReplyDeleteSuper informative, KC Star. An entire article about Macy's closing, with zero mention of the recent uptick in youth / gang violence at that mall.
We laugh at you calling yourself a "news" organization. You are disinformation and narrators, and nothing more.
Study of dinosaurs is fun but not very useful. chud.
DeleteI am sure the Black teen riots didn't make it an easier decision.
ReplyDeleteIt is losing the anchor stores that dooms a mall. With two gone, the rest is going to roll up quickly.
