Another scary public health update offers a glimpse of local medical scarcity and a dearth of not only hospital beds but also personnel to care for patients as the pandemic rages on . . .

Overcrowded hospitals unable "to take one more patient"
KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) - Hospitals in Kansas and Missouri are scrambling to find ICU beds for COVID-19 patients as the number of cases continues to rise. At Tuesday morning's briefing from the University of Kansas Health System, Dr. David Wise described the situation that occurred overnight.
"Kansas City ICU Beds All Full?!?!"
ReplyDeleteTony, you complain about others' sensationalized headlines and you keep doing stuff like this.
Did you even read the (very short) article? It was about KUMC receiving requests for transfers from other hospitals. The KU medical system is getting those requests because the local hospitals are not full.
I call bullshit. More Chicken Little crap.
ReplyDeleteThe icu in all hospitals are built to almost be full on a average weekend. if the ICUS are not almost full the hospital loses money. Any good news outlet would show you the icu numbers from last year at same hospital and guess what, SAME AMOUNT OF PEOPLE IN ICU THIS YEAR AS LAST YEAR! Never-mind the fact that many of the hospital beds are taken up by ILLEGAL ALIENS.
ReplyDeleteCitizens, be afraid! The virus! The virus!!
ReplyDeleteMore lies and bullshit from our "Leaders" and "Experts".
ReplyDelete5:38 Europe wants you back.

ReplyDeleteHospitals have been laying off nurses and staff due to empty beds.
Corona Virus is real but the hysteria is pure media - political panic driven.
I’m working at a local hospital retrofitting rooms. One floor is full and expanding to another. Also different floors have scattered COVID patients in them. Wear your mask fool.
ReplyDeleteNo it doesn't @6:13, and Hell won't have him either!

ReplyDeleteThis is a LIE!
@7:03pm. Well said!
ReplyDeleteI work at a major hospital. Yes the typical ICU's are smaller bed size, special units and thus fill up fast - even without Covid. It never made comon sense to have a 300 bed ICU unit in Kansas City. But now, if you need the ICU you CAN'T get in!
ReplyDeleteSo your risk of dying skyrockets!
Your gonna get stuck in a grimy, less sterile makeshift area without fancy equipment, an area that used to be for maternity or even storage, with a regular nurse - not an ICU nurse. Get life insurance and do your wills, have a Power of Attorney for medical decisions!
If you have been reading the obits for a couple years - you will now notice the huge number for people in their 60's dying. That didnt use to be the case.
ReplyDeleteI work at hospitals in Lawrence and Topeka and we have plenty of icu capacity...sure, mask up when you go out, but don't get taken by the fear mongering media and others.
