ReplyDeleteI worked at DST Systems in the Baltimore building. It was screwed up. DST "lent" their licensed IBM mainframe VM operating systems software to Russell Stover, who was nextdoor. Then DST converted to MVS/OS and no longer used VM. So DST Systems of course didnt pay the license fee on VM and one day it expired and the VM stopped working for Russell Stover. All their mainframe went dead. They called an expert that found the license had expired and it wasnt their software to use, it was illegal. Somehow EDS then used that situation to get into the shop and run Russell Stover's data center.
ReplyDeleteDst had over 45,000 employees in the last 2 decades. of course its mentioned alot. at one time the biggest employer in town (except govt)
