Kansas City Firefighters joined police and local clergy for a march promoting unity following days of violent protest on the Country Club Plaza.

However . . . An incendiary part of their messaging sparked anger among followers.

The rebuke was stern and scathing . . .

One local reporter/activist denounced the offending tweet:

"The voters just approved hundreds of millions of dollars for the @KCMOFireDept and this is the thanks?"

Only a few hours later, the KCFD Chief offered this quick apology by tweeting "I denounce that hashtag" and promised further investigation.
