Locals report a lively Cinco De Mayo in the suburbs of Kansas City as health experts both pro & amateur worry about the aftermath.
To wit . . .
NORTHALAND MEXICAN RESTAURANTS WERE PACKED WITH CINCO DE MAYO CUSTOMERS TODAY DESPITE CORONAVIRUS SOCIAL DISTANCING RULES!!!
There are three major Mexican restaurants along N. Oak in Kansas City, MO but subject to Clay County reopen regulations . . . And, obviously, almost ZERO ENFORCEMENT given social media reports of EPIC crowds.
Check FB, Twitter and a few other message board wherein a few locals offer worries but are mostly resigned to a lack of unanimity or leadership as the Greater KC Metro emerges from the pandemic lockdown.
Ironically, a close look at local liquor store shelves will even reveal a few leftover bottles of Corona before they stopped production.
And so, many locals are either ignoring the rules or hoping that reports of the virus are overblown.
Either way, whilst many Americans might not understand the celebration of the Battle of Puebla, defeat of French Empire and the Chicano Movement which popularized the holiday back in the 70s. The rising influence of Mexican death culture is apparent in Kansas City and across the nation given today's dedication to celebration in even the most dire circumstances.
Developing . . .
Don't blame the restaurants or the crowds. Blame Governor Parson for encouraging this. He's not even wearing a mask.
ReplyDeleteIt's not the governor's job follow people around with tissues. People need to look out for their own safety.
Deleteshoulder to shoulder today. As if none of it ever happened.
DeleteViva Taco Tuesday with a side of Corona.
ReplyDeleteI knew that you gringos would find a way to blame all of this on the Mexicans.
ReplyDelete^^^ Lulz.
Deletewestern civilization is not about individualism to the point of killing others. it's about freedom within a framework of responsible citizenship.
ReplyDeleteso, wearing masks voluntarily and modifying our behavior is not an act of submission to tyranny but an act of free will to be a good citizen.
if we members of western civilization can't get our act together, then the tyrannical model will take over the world.
bubba, keep in mind that wearing a mask is making war on the tyrants!
Yet, if you walked up and down Armour this afternoon you would find most of the businesses closed and restaurants only providing a carry out service. I guess it depends where you looked but I wondered if the news was wrong and everything was still locked down.

ReplyDeleteNicely done.
We were there standing in line 6feet apart or MORE waiting outside in Clay county and went to multiple Mexican restaurants and people were being respectful and following the guidelines to be safe. This is terrible reporting once again!! Don’t follow or believe this media who likes to scare everyone and try to make things worse!! Just terrible!!
ReplyDeleteYou are lying. People were not even trying. I was there and you were not obviously.
DeleteThe Mexico death culture welcomes death. It aint not bid deal if you die from covid, a bullet, a heroin overdose, or bad liver from drinkin. Who cares if you die, right? So go party on a lame Mexican holiday even though your not even in Mexico! Mexicans have no respect for their lives or anyone else's. They just dont care.
