TKC MUST READ!!! KANSAS CITY LAWYER & FORMER COUNCIL DUDE DAN COFRAN EXPLAINS PREZ TRUMP IMPEACHMENT!!!

Special thanks to the BEST & BRIGHTEST TKC READERS we want to share a local angle on the Prez Trump impeachment drama.

For those who don't know him, Dan Cofran was a KCMO Councilman who made a few unsuccessful runs for mayor and always served as a rare fiscal hawk and opposition to former Mayor Cleaver & Barnes. He was active in the Citizens Association and municipal politics for years and recently he offered a legal breakdown of issues related to the impeachment trial.

Checkit:

Dan Cofran: Presidential Executive Privilege in Congressional Investigations

Deets:

"The President has claimed both absolute immunity and executive privilege to prevent subpoenaed White House aides from appearing as witnesses before House Congressional committee investigative hearings.

"With a looming Senate impeachment trial, continuing Congressional investigations and numerous court proceedings regarding the current administration under way, news reports about executive privilege claims will be common, making this a good time to learn the basics about executive privilege . . ."

Don't accuse Mr. Cofran of being a lib, he's far from it and his insight into the process offers us a gateway to more news links on the sordid topic from "many sides" of the equation . . .

Winning Argument

Trump says 'America is thriving' at Davos, Switzerland, economic forum before impeachment trial

As the Senate prepared to open an impeachment trial against him, President Donald Trump ignored the topic and instead bragged about the economy Tuesday in a campaign-style speech to a global forum. "America is thriving, America is flourishing, and, yes, America is winning again like never before," Trump said at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Too Hot To Handle

Ivanka Trump Blows Off Jim Acosta's Impeachment Questions In Davos

First daughter and presidential adviser Ivanka Trump ignored impeachment questions from CNN's Jim Acosta when he approached her in Davos. Trump, who traveled with President Donald Trump to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, was on hand to promote the Pledge to America's Workers and "wage growth and job creation in the United States."

Isn't That Special: Trump, Impeachment and American Exceptionalism

As it happens, the question of whether to evict Trump from office, with its apparently foreordained answer, finds both sides in a sullen, recriminatory mood, hardly a triumphal one. No one is feeling especially special.

D.C. Game Play Defined

Mitch McConnell issues proposed rules for impeachment trial as Dems cry foul

The impeachment trial is set to begin in earnest on Tuesday. For a president who likes a good show and seems to thrive on chaos, the opening of his impeachment trial Tuesday could give him exactly that. Sources on Capitol Hill expect the first full day of the trial to be something of a political food fight.

Majority Rule?!?!

CNN poll: 51% say Senate should remove Trump from office

About half of Americans say the Senate should vote to convict President Donald Trump and remove him from office in the upcoming impeachment trial (51%), according to a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS, while 45% say the Senate should vote against conviction and removal.

Prez Trump Stands Proud

Trump calls impeachment trial a long-running 'hoax' at Davos Summit

DAVOS, Switzerland - President Donald Trump called the impeachment trial set to start in Washington later on Tuesday a long-running "hoax" after landing in Davos. "It's been going on for years," the president said at Swiss mountain summit of the world's elite hours before senators in Washington kick-off proceedings.

The Senate Impeachment Trial Has Officially Begun; Here's What To Expect

The Senate trial over the House Democrats' two articles of impeachment against President Trump - for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress - officially began Thursday, when Chief Justice John Roberts swore in Senators, but the trial begins in earnest Tuesday afternoon with a vote on the procedural rules, followed by the opening arguments […]

  1. Watch for the secret ballot. The joke is that most Republicans want him out of office too. Stop believing Faux News. They don't love you or the President as much as they say.

    1. ^^^ Really, that's genius?

      I'm sure you're a constitutional lawyer, right?

Truth is you don't understand much of what's going on and most people don't. Those who do see the Democratic Party doing down the same dangerous road that the Republicans did over the Lewinsky affair. Dangerous for business and people. Irresponsible.

  3. Just imagine if Clinton or Obama brought their daughters into their administration, and their husbands. And neither could pass a background check required for access to classified information.

Republicans would be cool with that.

    1. 1. Please enumerate exactly what classified information Trump's kids have access to.

      2. Please indicate which security and background checks they have gone through, or alternatively what has been lacking in those same procedures.

Otherwise, not surprisingly, you're just talking shit.

  4. 11:27, any CNN is too much CNN.

11:57, yes we'd be cool with that as long as they did not have access to classified information. We would not be cool with the fact that neither Carter's nor Obama's daughter were adults. Surely there are laws against child labor?

  5. There was not any abuse of power on Trumps's part. That has been proven! He will NOT leave the WH. The abuse of power is in the democrats and remember they called for his impeachment way before he set foot in the WH. You're are watching the democrats abuse power right now impeaching a president who has committed no crime. But yet you Anti American democrats watched as Obama supported ISIS and whispered in Putin ear as they worked together to support terrorists. If I saw you dying on the street I wouldn't help you!

They will run screaming in humiliation to their demon masters, when Our Blessed President is victorious over them.
God will smash them into dust.

  11. Poll says 51% believe he should be impeached. Let's refine those numbers and poll people who own real property. I would guess those numbers are closer to 80%. In fact, we should restrict voting to those that own real property. No minimum value on it, just real property. If you have a postage stamp lot in the middle of the hood, you have more skin in the game, and contribute FAR more to the local tax base than an entire complex of apartment dwellers. That would get us a gov far closer to what the founders intended than this massive bureaucracy we have today that seeks to feed and expand at all costs.

  17. 11:08 is right - the BS impeachment of bill clinton over a blow job is an exact quantum of stupid bullshit as this impeachment. one difference though is the impeachers here are a bunch of war mongering fools. seriously this "aid" to ukraine is just weapons folks, the democrats want trump to enrich the arms industry further with weapons sales intended to provoke russia, a nuclear armed state. this is exactly why i voted for trump for him to block stuff like this.

outside of Tulsi the democrat party is obsessed with war even worse than the republicans like light-in- his-loafers Lindsey Graham or John McCain, may he rest in war. well, almost as bad anyway.

I would like to see trump impeached over acts of war and aggression with no approval from Congress against both iran and iraq in the cowardly drone murder of two of the generals who defeated ISIS. the iraqi general was the one coordinating Yazidi militias against ISIS. the dude was a hero who protected women and children from genocide and America killed him. astounding.

  20. 2:35 Makes a great point.

That is exactly why Bernie wants to tear down the wall destroy borders so that the cost of a Cloward-Pivan utopia (Read: Venezuela) can be shouldered by native born Americans until the tap runs dry.

Pelosi and Schiff are two of the most mendacious, greasy, corrupt politicians of the last century. The pretense and foundation that this Impeachment is built on, is their subjective interpretation of the transcript of a phone call we have all read. They would have you believe that their interpretation is better than yours, or anyone.

    It's not.

Pretending that you knew, or that they knew, what the President, who is the chief law enforcement officer in the US, was thinking, during that conversation, is, again, no matter how you call it, a fuckin opinion.

The Chief Law Enforcement Officer of this nation, should now be subjected extemporaneously to a "Minority Report", "Red Flag" type determination, made by members of Congress prior to any investigation of possible misuse of tax payer money to previously determined, extremely corrupt countries?

    STFU

This contemptible, disgraceful bastardization of protocols with respect to the Impeachment process is a thin patina covering the malicious and criminal intent of Democrat/Socialist/Fascist Kleptocrats now in office, who are threatened by the return of power to the people.

Washington D.C. is the most corrupt city in the history of the world and that corruption is aided and abetted by parasite, vampire scum like Pelosi and Schiff.

    ReplyDelete
  26. "Abuse of power" is a, once again, subjective opinion that as we can see here, interpreted many different ways.

What Byron, are the specific statutes, or crimes that the President has broken? What law has he broken? Perjury? Theft? Treason?

For 3 1/2 years,we heard, literally every day, thousands of times, that there was categorical evidence of criminality with respect to the "Russian Collusion" hoax. Had Mueller been able to indict Trump for tearing off his mattress tags, he would have done it.

There was nothing, zero, nada, zilch.

The media lied then. Pelosi and Democrats lied. Schiff lied his ass off and he had the information that only D. Nunes had, no one else could see it.

When that evidence was produced, it turned out, that Schiff, knowingly and with full knowledge of the facts, faced cameras every day and lied.

This is nothing more than an attempt to destroy Trump by any means necessary in order to win the 2020 election.

It's a national disgrace and everyone, with even a cursory knowledge of what is going on (Although they won't admit it.), knows this is a sham and - if Democrats were still able to be embarrassed, an embarrassment.
