As this town prepares to spend BIG BUCKS on a victory parade, here's ANOTHER REALITY CHECK regarding local streets . . . Take a look:
Potholes causing big problems for KC drivers
Kansas City officials said they have a list of more than 1,700 potholes that need to be filled.KMBC's Brian Johnson said that at one intersection, he counted six hubcaps on the side of the street, including one that was broken in half."So a lot of these are on our crews radar.
This headline has convinced me we should build a new baseball stadium downtown!

ReplyDelete^^^^ lulz!
ReplyDeleteI’m telling you, these potholes are multiplying like crazy, and they are deep too, I can honestly say that I don’t remember a year when they have been this bad. This is what happens when the mayor and city clowncil spend all the money downtown and ignore the rest of the city.
We deserve it though, for voting self centered crooks into office and allowing them to do what they want instead of what needs to be done.
"Street preservation gets $16 million this year. The city estimates it actually needs about $45 million to maintain its streets.
ReplyDeleteThe City Council is expected to look at increasing funding."
So, the council will either quit giving away tax money on TIFs or they will increase our taxes. Gee, which one do you think they'll choose?
Patty, are you posting on blogs during work hours again?
DeleteSeems like just yesterday I read "Professor Q" saying to an interviewer:
ReplyDelete_______
Quinton Lucas doesn’t want to build any new stadiums. The new mayor of Kansas City, who won election in a June landslide and took over in August, knows that most mayors stake their legacies on major capital improvement projects. But Lucas has different ideas.
“Everybody’s happy if you’re building a stadium. Everybody’s like, ‘Man, things are booming; what an exciting place!’ But then people are still getting shot,” he told 435 back in August.
Lucas, who is only 35, instead plans to build his reputation off a push to lower the city’s epidemic of violent crime and take care of the little things, like potholes and trash pickup.
______
But instead we are going to spend millions giving away bus rides and millions enforcing Tenants’ Bill of Rights.
DeleteMoDOT highways are perfect and smooth thanks to the hard work of me.
ReplyDeleteKISS MY MODOT MIZZOU GRAD ASS TKC MOTHERFUCKERS
yep, dead tire last night on wife's care due to pot hole north of river in KCMO.
ReplyDeleteMayor Selfie wont do anything. He doesn't even show up to vote. Winter hasn't even started. The potholes are from last year... The city didn't bother fixing the potholes from last year. No accountability one way or another. The City of Kansas City doesn't bother inspecting the work of the contractors and if you call to complain the city call the contractors instead of inspecting the work.

The director of public works and several of the idiot engineers she protects who suck away high salaries while spending millions of dollars wastefully are to blame. We need change in that department but no one has any guts to make the changes we need. They’ll just keep blaming everyone else for their failures... and the potholes.
