KC Council sends distracted driving proposal back to committee, amid concerns of racial profiling
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Kansas City Council voted Thursday to send a proposal that would have addressed distracted driving back to committee after council members raised concerns over due process and the potential for racial profiling.
By Councilman Ellington's logic:
ReplyDeleteSince blacks are much more likely to be pulled over in Missouri and Jackson County, we shouldn't have any traffic laws at all.
^^^^ +1000000
ReplyDeleteHe needs to stop playing the race card with everything, it’s no longer needed
Oh yes lets protect those who are most likely to be the ones that break the law the most. I am getting so tired of seeing those who break the law being better protected than those who obey said laws.
ReplyDeleteBrandon Ellington claims, "The reason why we don't have state law against texting while driving is because we see that more than 91% of blacks are likely to be stopped. This is not my opinion. It's the Attorney General's opinion," he said, referring to a state report that black drivers were more likely to be pulled over than their white counterparts.
ReplyDeleteIf it's the truth then it's the truth. When it's the truth it isn't racial profiling at all.
Kudos to Mayor Lucas for once in taking the correct stand here.
Kansas has a half ass version of this law and they same as never enforce it so makes me wonder if this whole issue by the city is even worth the time if it isn't going to be enforced. So many damn laws on the books now that are ignored and if you think that isn't so just ask Jean Baker about that. She does a great job of ignoring the law.
^^zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
ReplyDeleteWith scholars like Ellington on the city council, KC is royally F*ckd!
ReplyDelete^^So's your wife so....
ReplyDeleteWhat an idiotic Council; you have to look at public safety through the lens of racial profiling, what a crock!!! An accident caused by distracted driving doesn't care what race you are. And if you are driving distracted by using your phone, then you get pulled over, regardless of the race you are. You folks need to get a grip and stop cowtowing to special interest groups. Public safety is the issue, not racial profiling.
ReplyDelete""It's strange to me that in this city, the largest city in Missouri, we can't figure out a way to address what really is an epidemic, and there's all sorts of issues that we all have to be sensitive to and care about," McManus said."
ReplyDeleteJust ban vehicles
Black victimization and White racism is the greatest hoax of our time.

ReplyDeleteGuess the race of the KCPD Officer who was texting while driving a KCPD van that slammed into the back of a car and killed a 17 yr old last year.............And Ellington is worried about racial profiling
ReplyDeleteIt’s mostly white people doing this so... it will never be enforced.
