There's noting but weather news out there right now but this tidbit evokes a bigger question and just a bit of foreshadowing:
WILL KANSAS CITY FREEBIE BUS SERVICE LOWER QUALITY?!?!?
People who are getting freebies don't have much of a right to complain and the removal of the fare pretty much eliminate accountability to the public even at the rate of a few coins per ride.
Here's the morning announcement:
Service Suspended: Jan. 17
Kansas City, Mo. – All RideKC buses operated by the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA) will be suspended until 2 p.m. today due to deteriorating road conditions. All Unified Government Transit routes suspended service at 8:30 a.m. Many buses from Johnson County are 10 to 20 minutes delayed due to road conditions and traffic on area highways. Buses in Independence, Mo., are using snow reroutes.
RideKC Freedom paratransit is suspending service for the rest of the day and is in Phase D of the Inclement Weather Plan. RideKC Freedom will only make trips to dialysis, medical appointments and return trips for those who already traveled this morning.
The best way to find out about schedule changes and reroutes is via the website www.ridekc.org.

Developing . . .
of course will lower quality. And the bar is already very low.
ReplyDeleteThey need to raise fares instead of making buses free, so that buses won’t slide on icy roads, right?

ReplyDeleteDuh yes you will have lower quality every thug in the city will be riding now. Think about crabs, bedbugs and getting stabbed or beat up.
The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority taking advantage of that “legal loophole” so it doesn't have to disclose how it spends taxpayer dollars?
ReplyDeleteHow will Quinton get to his favorite gay bar in Lawrence?
ReplyDelete^^I don't know Nancy, how will you???
ReplyDeleteSo how will the Bike KC loonies get to work?
ReplyDeleteThe protocols for bus service in bad weather should be standardized, free bus or not. The provider of the service needs to focus more on the service and less on the Twitter and Facebook public relations posts.

ReplyDeleteWhile Mayor Lucas and friends boarded the blue bus to their dream world of "free everything" funded by taxpayers, red bus passengers navigated the road to freedom!!!
Right because you pay a toll every time you drive your suburban onto a street or highway. You and tony are such entitled hypocritical twits that it actually never occurred to you that you take freebies every day.
Delete^^^^You have an excellent point, but has Tony taken a side on this issue? It seems to me he's just reporting the news.
ReplyDeleteEtc? Tony blames future fare for today's weather. Inane.
DeleteThe current bus service isn’t a qualify service and with the trend in Kansas City, services are always sub-par and will likely diminish further to near ruin/worthlessness.
