Kansas City officials are concerned by ongoing issues at the city's temporary jail, including six escapes, a death, an assault and now, an attempted suicide - but there seems to be some disagreement over who is at fault.

ReplyDeleteHow is this a shock to anyone? The city knew they had a problem, but believed that they were smarter than everyone else in the discussion. Our city is run by those that somehow have bought into the false narrative that restorative justice is a panacea. The fact is there are those that are dangerous, and now they are in the city system. This city is failing to protect the tax payers. It's clear that Sly James and city council intentionally reduced police numbers, held a completely worthless anti-crime task force and now have left our city without the ability to hold criminals accountable.
ReplyDeleteI'm not shocked at all. We are governed by those who have no idea how to keep us safe, and refuse to listen to those paid to do so. This shit show is going to get much worse before any real changes are made. Shields has made it clear that she won't fund a jail, the council isn't prepared to address a violent crime epidemic and there isn't any leadership.
I’m disappointed with our mayor spending so much time in Lawrence at a gay bar. But not surprised at all.
