A Kansas City charter school that closed in 2018 still owes millions of dollars to the state - and the Missouri Attorney General's office has gotten involved. Benjamin Banneker Charter Academy of Technology leaders resisted closure at every turn.

    Asked to explain the closing of the charter school, leaders stated that Benjamin Banneker had little formal education and was largely self-taught!!!

  2. Just like the charter school whose board was chaired by the sainted Al Brooks and which ended up owing the state millions because of years of faked attendance records, the money here is all very very long gone.
    Another example of a finely-developed skill set of having the ability to turn taxpayer money into thin air.
    Anything ever recovered from any of these "projects"?

  3. Yet another example of why school choice is a fraud.

    Forget charters and invest properly in public schools. Also invest in poor neighborhoods and support a living wage so families don't struggle so much and can spend time with their kids and create a positive learning environment starting with the home.

    That's how you fix underperforming schools.

  4. ^^^When charter schools fail to provide adequate education, they close. When public schools fail to provide adequate education, they get more money so that they can fail more expensively in the future.
