Kansas City 39th Street Endures Despite Rising Crime And Developer Encroachment

We'd like to share and upbeat Internets movie clip with our beloved late night visitors and offer nothing more than enthusiastic approval . . .

Unfortunately, a recent public TV promo movie only displays the nice side of 39th Street life.

A few things they missed:

- The persistent Midtown KCMO crime threat and more home & car break-ins throughout the area.

- KU Med Center building boom that's pricing out longtime residents and transforming residential blocks with EPIC transient condos.

- Look closely at 39th Street . . . The party people are great but they distract from more than a few EMPTY and/or provisional storefronts we notice arising.

Now, back to the bright side and a really fun clip for our late night denizens . . .

Discover the soul of a Kansas City block one plate and one drink at a time. In this episode, Kansas City's West 39th Street establishments Meshuggah Bagels, Vietnam Cafe, Mud Pie Bakery and Room 39 are featured.
