IS KANSAS CITY 'WHITE FRAGILITY' CONVERSATION FAR TOO ONE-SIDED?!?!

Longtime readers might remember that we've talked about this book previously but the topic has arisen again on the back end of a book tour.

Here's a brief refresher for those who haven't read the missive:

Robin DiAngelo’s White Fragility: Why It’s So Hard For White People To Talk About Racism is a New York Times best-selling book exploring the counterproductive reactions white people have when their assumptions about race are challenged, and how these reactions maintain racial inequality.

Tonight's event at UMKC is sold out. Attendees will "join UMKC Librarian Scott Curtis for a discussion over the arguments and issues presented in this book. A panel of speakers will share their encounters with race and racism, and their experiences talking about racial issues."

Spoilers . . . TKC has been to a great many of these discussions and they're mostly supportive of the thesis and simply want to offer additional insight. There's nothing wrong with that . . . It doesn't make much sense to attend a panel discussion if there's no interest in the topic.

However, local media coverage of the "white fragility" concept does very little but repeat the mantra and premise of the book with very little push back or challenging questions.

In the Prez Trump era, the only thing we know for certain is that cultural divisions have deepened betwixt conservative whites vs. African-American community & political leaders. Progressive ideology explaining this discord merely by blaming white privilege, fragility or supremacy ignores a far more uncomfortable trend: The U.S. is, in fact, changing rapidly and the "virtue" of mere whiteness is no longer enough to comfortably sit atop the American cultural pyramid. Moreover, any reaction to this societal displacement other than humble acceptance is met with swift popular rebuke.

Translation: There's a reason your drunk uncle is so drunk and mad on Twiter but it's still mainly his own fault because he didn't learn to code.

Meanwhile, the world has better things to do than feel sorry for white dudes and the comforting and equally unmentionable fact is that green is the only color that ever REALLY matters throughout time immemorial.

You decide . . .

  1. Hey now TKC, don't get too critical. The concept explains about 2/3rds of the comments on this blog. The other 1/3rd are Byron Funkmeister trolling the many enemies he created for himself.

    1. Talking about racism isn't productive for whites or blacks because it only serves as an excuse.

      Why do the streets suck?

      Racism.

Why is the sewer system broken?

      Racism.

      Why aren't any good jobs?

      Racism.

Meanwhile, look at people who ignore the "excuse" and do the best they can. They are much happier, often more productive and aren't wallowing in their own self pity.

Here's the really fun part, that "racism" excuse now applies to both black AND whites.

      Have fun with that bitches.

Those questioning white privilege have some very good points, but green trumps all.

  6. Racism isn't a real word. It was a propaganda term invented by Trotsky around 80 or so years ago to muddy the waters of actual discussion and shut down actual counter arguments. This "talk" tonight seems to prove that it is effective

  7. This book is riddled with historical inaccuracies, such as black women being denied the vote until 1964, poor arguments, and a lack of any decent citations. This book did inspire me though. If something this bad can be published, anyone can write a book as Craig Glazer and Sly James both proved beyond a reasonable doubt. According to this author, those that are identified as white (not necessarily those who identify AS white) are guilty of racism and must be prepared to be tongue-lashed.

  9. I always try to bring in other or new ideas into my thick skull. This is is absolute crap in my opinion. The first few pages simply set up a ghost/witch hunt that results in no answers or solutions but sure as heck will try to make the white race feel guilty for no reason. First off is that she thinks white people find it so hard to talk about racism. This isn't the America that I've experienced and I've lived in many very integrated circles of people throughout my 60 plus years of life. Surely there are some people and some places who will have the experiences this book claims or refers to, but to paint the U.S. as a whole with that broad a brush mischaracterizes our country.

  10. Let's take a look at this video, from the Baltimore Police Department, which shows EXACTLY what happens when we are all clutching our fuckin pearls over "Racism".

I hope all of those "Good" whites has a great time tonight, trying to out self flagellate themselves in front of their Progressive heroes.

    WHITE POWER!!!!!!

Blacks have more organizations than there are Smiths in the phone book. La Raza, Asian organizations and I am sure there are plenty I have missed. It is a light year past time, for whites, who will be a minority in this country in the next ten years, to organize and promote WHITE culture. White, white, white, white!!!

In the meantime, before you go get on your knees in supplication, read this-----

  14. Why is it so hard for White people to talk about racism? Because most of them are racists... people dont like feeling like their perspective is wrong no matter how many signals, evidence against their own beliefs. A woman said it best, people are committed to their own ignorance. There is also a great deal of entitlement to White superiority.

    1. No, that's nonsense.

There's no problem talking about racism. But we first have to agree on a definition that amounts to more than a constant, inaccurate, one sided definition of the issue.

  15. 'White Fragility' is just the left's way of being pissed off that more whites don't buy into the modern, flexible, and completely political concept of racism. It's a feel good rationalization of a much more complicated issue that we're not mature enough to handle as a culture.

And it's yet another way of sidestepping the real issues of black crime and dysfunction, which blacks should be more concerned about than anything else. It's yet more of the endless victim porn that keeps blacks where they are.

And it's also bullshit, plain and simple, served up by academics.

  17. History is inconvenient to this made-up narrative of whites as the villain of history. Blacks sold and enslaved and often ate other blacks well into the historical period. In some places they still do. This took place before, during, and after colonialism. This doesn't make slavery any better when practiced and perpetuated by whites, but it forces complexity into what is transparently a one sided, purely political assessment of history, blame, and responsibility. Even to mention the historical facts invites incandescent rage.

There are well established differences in IQ between different ethnic groups and whites are by no means at the top of that food chain. Even to mention the science is to invite shrill rage.

Crime statistics don't lie. But even to hint at the constant black on black genocide and dysfunction in black communities is to ask for the full weight of liberal backlash.

    Who's fragile again?

  19. Racism is the go-to word for the wealthy oligarchs who own the US Government.
The second arrow in their "Divide and Conquer" quiver is Sexism.

There was and actual populist movement in the mid-1960s that had the potential to bring about meaningful social change in this country, but it was derailed by the Fourth Branch of American Government, the Media, who were directed by this Country's owners to give attention only to the extremists of the interracial and gender movements in order to create the chasms of chaos that divide us today.

Look, you don't have to like me and I don't have to like you for both of us to work together to gut one of the Kleptocrats who are doing their best to complete the enslavement of the wealth producing class in this Country.

Lets just agree on one point, never under any circumstances vote for an Incumbent, for out Country's sake.

  21. If this "conversation on race" were to be grounded in opinions that actually counted, then, the 6 families of the victims of the Indian Creek Black on White Serial Killer should have first shot at the podium. Next up, the families of the 7 victims of Brandon Howell, the Black On White Serial Killer, then maybe Harry Stone's family and Jeffery Flanagan and the kid from UMKC and the little girl who just bought it down at the Crossroads.

Black Hate Crimes against Whites is a forbidden subject, but, hell, let's have the black families, over the last 10 years, who are victims of black violence speak and then maybe that lying, maggot, piece of fuckin shit Michael Eric Dyson can preach to us all about the evils of "Racism".

  22. During any 24 hour period in the vast population of the US someone will say or do some stupid shit that will be picked up by the 24/7 media microscope and beat to death as racism deserved or not. You do realize this is a bandwagon that will contantly be boarded as an example of all of white Americas conduct. There will always be stupid offensive shit. This is front and center every day just to stir and broaden the racial divides. Simply take account of what you see or hear in the media on a daily basis. How many times daily and weekly are we exposed? : to news articles, documentaries, TV shows and talk shows with the many celebrity guest of color willing to contribute their negative life experience with white privileged America. Can we at least agree this constant white demonization gives the appearance of organization and design?

Thoughts, attitudes, feelings and words, etc. cannot and should not be mandated or policed. You can make your argument and lobby for philosophical change but do not attempt to legislate, demand or shame me into how you see the world. It might just be a flawed perception based on how you have been manipulated socially and politically. This goes also for white apologists who do not know where to draw the line when enough is enough already!
